Job Description: Elementary School Teacher (Grades K-3) – Core Subjects
Location: Carolina Charter Academy
Reports to: Assistant Principal and Lead Administrator/Principal
Position Summary: Carolina Charter Academy is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Elementary School Teacher to educate and inspire young learners in grades K-3. The teacher will deliver instruction in core subjects (including reading/language arts, mathematics, science, and/or social studies) while fostering social, emotional, and intellectual growth in a supportive classroom environment. This role focuses on building foundational skills to prepare students for future academic success.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Duties:
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with state curriculum standards and students' varying needs.
- Teach core subjects through a variety of instructional methods, including hands-on activities, group work, and differentiated instruction.
- Establish clear learning objectives, manage classroom activities, and maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment.
- Assess student progress through observations, assignments, tests, and other methods; provide timely feedback and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student performance, behavior, and development.
- Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and administrators on curriculum, student support, and school initiatives.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, recess, and other school events. ? Promote social-emotional learning, classroom management, and positive behavior strategies. ? Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school events.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to use a variety of office equipment and classroom tools such as computers, scanners, and copiers. Must be able to use Google Workspace efficiently. Must be able to communicate effectively. At times requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds. Due to the amount of time spent standing and/or walking, physical requirements are consistent with those for sedentary work.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Valid state teaching certification/license for elementary education.
- Experience working with elementary-aged children (student teaching or prior experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of child development and elementary curriculum standards.
- Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
- Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with young learners.
Employment Terms:
- Full-time, 10-month position.
